My career in BC Education started in 1994 teaching secondary mathematics, science, and chemistry. I taught Math 8-12, Science 8-10, Earth Science 11, and Chemistry 11/12 while in public schools as well as leading school professional development, curriculum implementation, and being the math department head.
After 16-years of teaching, I left the practice and K-12 schools to complete my doctorate in educational leadership. During my doctoral studies, I served as a school trustee for two terms, served on the BCSTA board of directors for 3 years, and wrote curriculum for the Ministry of Education, FNESC, and OpenED BC.
I completed my dissertation, The Professional Learning Experiences of Non-Mathematics Subject Specialist Teachers: A Descriptive Study, on August 8, 2017 and taught several courses at SFU and St.Mark’s College at UBC as a sessional instructor. After taking care of my mom, I joined UNBC full-time in 2018.
