What an honour and a pleasure to be invited to be a part of the inaugural NOIIE (Networks of Inquiry and Indigenous Education) Book Club. Thank you for the invitation to participate in the NOIIE Conference 2023 asynchronously as one of the book reviewers and I enjoyed being the first speaker in the 4-book series. I am reviewed Leona Prince’s and Garielle Prince’s book, BE A GOOD ANCESTOR.
What a fun way to be introduced to conference attendees… with hashtags and key words. #patiopics #Crocs #UNBCED #foodie. These are all wonderful depictions of who I am on social media and from what I was told, Dr. Leyton Schnellert called out my name. What a compliment and thank goodness my social media presence is not a mystery. I am grateful to know so many people in my PLN through Twitter.
Of course, I’m a giant head wishing that I had my selfie stick in hand to record this book club review. That said, I did pay homage to my 4-word descriptor and filmed the 4-minute video on my patio. I am so grateful for the guiding questions and I hope I did justice to what was intended for the book club. From what I understand, the book club was a surprise for Linda Kaser and Judy Halbert. Yay. Surprise!!!
Thank you to these two… Sandra McAuley and Angela Stott… for the introduction and opportunity to review and present at NOIIE 2023. It was a pleasure to work with both of you… presenting about Assessment for Learning in Mathematics and working together in teacher education on coding and education technology… and it was fun being a part of this initiative. I hope it worked out well, as you intended.
What a beautiful concluding photo. These photos were shared with me as I was not able to attend the conference this year. Thank you Sandra, Angela, and Leona. For your viewing pleasure, I have included the 4-minute video below. Thank you for including in this community and I am reminded of how were are all collectively doing good work in BC education and learning together to improve our pedagogy.
