I am honoured to be part of the Pulling Together Canoe Journey in 2010, 2011, and 2012. Pulling Together is about building relationships between Indigenous Youth and the police. I participated as a community member and educator.
I was asked to document the journey for the Sunshine Coast Canoe Families in a blog for 2011 and 2012 (see links below). The 2010 Pulling Together Journey was also incredible. I learned a lot in 2010. It was a humbling experience. We visited many Indigenous communities, participated in protocol, pulled together, and learned experientially Indigenous culture. The water is powerful and I learned so much from the Indigenous youth. Although I did not blog in 2010 or document, I am happy that I didn’t so that I could pay attention to my growth and intended learning. Honestly, I was transformed, which led me to My Pedagogical Journey.
